Castle Walls review – Prime’s first fully AI-generated show is here, and it’s a Vaseline-smeared mess
Billed as the first end-to-end AI-created series on a major streaming service, this Turkish show looks like the result of the prompt ‘make it cinematic’ Just as the world reels from Elon Musk’s AI-powered The Odyssey remake – though “remake” feels rather generous for a seven-minute splat of synthetic sludge – another bucket of AI gunk is dropped on to our faces.
Social media is full of weird video game mashups. Where are they all coming from?
AI tools are making it easier to modify and recreate games, raising questions about piracy, copyright and how far the technology could disrupt the industry.

‘If you can’t hold it, you don’t own it’: why media fans want to escape algorithms with CDs, DVDs and vinyl
People describe their return to physical media – whether to protect data, support artists, or retain control of one’s choices For some, it is the security of knowing they have a physical copy of their favourite films and music, free from algorithms, interruptions and the vagaries of streaming. For others, it is the sound of needle on vinyl, the click of a cassette player and the ability to interact with a physical format.
The Three Kinds of Marks
Marks on a film set aren't all the same. Actor's marks protect focus and exposure, camera marks protect distance and framing, and furniture marks protect continuity. Miss any of them and something breaks.
The strange new reality of living in an AI world that nobody asked for
The ABC describes the reasons why Australians are the most sceptical about AI compared to other countries. It highlights that Australians are concerned about the risks of AI, such as its potential to replace humans in jobs and its potential to spread misinformation. The article also mentions that Australians are concerned about the lack of transparency in AI systems and the potential for bias in AI algorithms.
Stop shaming people for using AI. Start organizing to prevent our obsolescence | Garrison Lovely
The industry is engaged in a perverse quest to replace humans. We cannot cede the best tools available to the other side I don’t need to tell you that people hate AI. The list of grievances is long: slop, cheating, bias, enfeeblement, electricity bills, environmental destruction, exploitation, theft, cybercrime, doom. But resistance to the technology has often taken the form of shaming people for personally using it, with precious little organizing against the companies building the machines.

An AI “mind-reading” tool can reconstruct what you’re looking at from a brain scan
A new AI tool can guess what you’re looking at just by analyzing your brain scans—and re-create that image with remarkable precision. It can go the other way, too, and predict a person’s brain activity based on what they’re looking at. In the image above, for example, the left-hand image of each pair is what the user actually saw—and its right-hand counterpart is what the model reconstructed from the brain scan. Michal Irani, who developed the tool with her colleagues at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, hopes her “mind-reading” tool will ultimately reveal more about how...
